As you pilot your spacecraft around the planets and stars, engaging in space combat and conversation with other characters, you unravel the Conquer the Universe plot. The game is similar to Elite in that you are relatively free to travel to wherever you please.

The MS-DOS version has a bit of a different intro due to graphical differences, different sounds, and some parts of the main HUD for your spacecraft have different colors. You can also select what mode the game will run in at the beginning at start-up.

Galactic Empire is a strategy video game. It is the first game in the Galactic Saga and the first game published by Brøderbund which was, in fact, created for the purpose of publishing the game.

Star Control: Origins is a science fiction action-adventure game that combines planetary exploration, diplomacy with alien races, and one-on-one ship-to-ship space battles. Players captain a starship, sending a lander to survey planets, gather resources, and examine artifacts, then spending those resources on new technologies, weapons, upgrades, and ships from other races. The top-down Fleet Battles pit two vessels against each other and can be played against the AI or in multiplayer. It is considered part of the Star Control series but takes place in a separate universe from the original games.
